Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you…”
I recently shared a story about an opportunity that would only last a week. At the time I was employed as a waitress making less than minimum wage. My employer had already informed the staff that they would be shutting their doors for good and wished everyone well. I wasn’t entirely sadden by this until weeks became months. I became discouraged and decided after being given advice from my cousin, to get very specific about what I wanted God/the Universe to grant me in the days ahead. I did as she said and I laid out my request for salary, and my desire to work with supportive individuals, etc.
When I got the call from another cousin that her employer was looking to hire someone for a week, she immediately thought of me. The pay was roughly what I had asked God/the Universe to grant me, which was astronomically more in comparison to my waitressing gig! I accepted and soon experienced my desires manifesting.
This is what the listener offered after I shared my story.
“I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;
For Life is a just employer,
and gives you what you ask
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid”
